It has been observed that the number of Corona positive cases In Delhi is showing a significant and consistent Increase since last week of October. With the festival season (Diwali 14th November, Chhat 19th/20th November), onset of winter, marriage season, pollution effects on health, continuing return of migrants and general increases of social, religious and economic activities with the unlock, the number of cases are expected to Increase In the month of November. The Expert Group has also predicted a third peak In last week of November/first week of December, in which the highest daily cases is expected to reach 11909 cases.

In view of the above facts and to effectively manage the COVID-19 cases in Delhi, all concerned are directed to ensure that the following actions are taken strictly and promptly :-

  1. All cases of symptomatic negatives of Rapid Antigen Tests should be Re-tested with a follow-up RT-PCR tests.
  2. Contact Tracing should be paid proper attention and it should be ensured that the contacts traced should be subjected to immediate testing and be kept under effective isolation till the test outcome.
  3. Patients under home isolation should be regularly evaluated and physically visited by health teams to ensure proper adherence to isolation standards.
  4. Analysis of cases emerging from entertainment areas, markets, workplaces and metro like services should be immediately conducted to identify possible clusters and immediate containment measures should be initiated.
  5. More human resource such as civil defense volunteers and municipal sanitary inspectors should be identified and deployed for enforcing COVID appropriate behavior and to prevent Fatigue amongst frontline workers.
  6. People must be urged celebrate the festivals inside their homes, with their families and avoiding gatherings. Strict enforcement of Covid-appropriate festivities to be done by utilizing the police and municipal authorities.
  7. Timely data updation of data on the ICMR and COVID India portal.
  8. IEC campaign at District level should focus on the risks to ‘young’ yet vulnerable groups and their families due to any complacency in following COVID appropriate behavior as well as enforcing COVID appropriate festivities.

The above directions should be implemented strictly to help contain the increasing number of COVID cases.
